Togo has a population of 8.97 million people and is ranked number 38 in Africa according to the nominal GDP ($8.49 billion). Even though Togo is one of the smallest countries in Africa, it has one of the highest standards of living owing to its well-developed export sector and phosphate deposits.

The minimum wage for Togo is 35,000 CFA per month for all workers.
The Labour Code governs the payment of salaries to all workers, regardless of their status. Wages include all forms of remuneration, including the minimum wage and any additional benefits paid directly or indirectly by the employer to the employee in cash or in kind in exchange for the work completed.
The Labour Code mandates that an employer make timely wage payments to its employees. If a worker is recruited on a daily or weekly basis, he or she must be paid within 15 days, i.e., the pay period cannot be more than 15 days. A worker's pay term cannot exceed one month if he or she works on a biweekly or monthly basis. Payment for the month must be made within eight days after the end of the pay period.
Togo’s employees pay progressive tax depending on their income bands as follows;
From 0 XOF to 900,000 XOF: 0.5%
From 900,001 XOF to 4,000,000 XOF: 7%
From 4,00,001 XOF- 6,000,000 XOF: 15%
From 6,000,001 XOF- 10,000,000 XOF: 25%
From 10,000,001 XOF – 15,000,000 XOF: 30%
Above 15,000,000 XOF: 35%
In addition, employers pay 17.5% of the worker's gross salary for social security, while the workers contribute 4% of their gross salary to the same.
All-female employees are entitled to 14 weeks of maternity leave, with which eight weeks must be taken after childbirth. There is, however, no statutory requirement for paternity leave in Togo.
In Togo, workers who have worked for five years must be given 35% of their monthly salary per year of service as severance pay. Those who have worked between six and ten years are granted 40% of their salary, and those who have worked for more than ten years are paid 45% of their salary for every year as severance pay.
Notice Period
According to the individual or collective agreements, the notice period of termination is typically between 15 days and thirty days.
