The minimum wage rate for Mauritius is 607 Mauritian Rupee per week for unskilled employees. The minimum wage is MUR 10,200 ($290) per month for skilled employees.
In Mauritius, it is allowed to give employees online pay stubs. Payroll records must be retained for a minimum of ten years.
Employees in Mauritius are subjected to a 10% annual net income tax for a salary of up to 650,000 MUR and 15% above 650,000 MUR. Further, employers contribute 2.5% of a worker's gross salary as a pension contribution, while the worker contributes 1.5% for those earning a gross salary of MUR 50,000 a month and less and 3% of the salary for those earning a gross salary above MUR 50,000.
Parental Leave
Female employees in Mauritius are entitled to maternity leave of 14 days which is fully paid for. On the other hand, male employees are granted a paternity leave of five days after one year of service in an organization.
Mauritius's employment contracts can be terminated by either the employee or the employer, with or without any cause. More so, either party can choose to terminate the contract in writing or verbally. However, at least 30 days of written or verbal notice is needed for the indefinite-term contracts.
